Odie was born May 3rd, 1992.  Although he was not fond of the showring, he has always done what was asked of him, his tail was up in the ring, but it wagged when he left knowing he would finish his day visiting the children and anyone else who would pay attention to a bloodhound.  He finished his championship with 4 majors and became a couch potato.  He completed a basic obedience course and finished in 1st place over 33 other entries.  They say the bitches rule the roost, but in this case, he lets them think they do.  All it takes is the lift of an eyebrow or a look for him to get his point across.  He is content to stay at home, but still gets excited when show day comes.  I hope all my dogs hold up as well as he has with age.  He was put down shortly before his 10th birthday due to a perineal hernia which caused him not to be able to urinate,   He still had an incredible top line, good strength of rear and was still incredibly agile for his age.  He had been a wonderful playmate for the puppies and is not afraid to make himself small in their presence.  He had begun to show a hint of gray on his face which enhanced his noble dignified expression.  A most endearing hound who will be missed in our household.
